The inspiration for this book was a result of my last trip to India after participating in Navaratri celebrations with my friend Seema and the women of her household at Johari House, Haridwar in Northern India. Nava means nine, Ratri means nights. Navaratri is ‘Nine Nights of the Goddess’; a festival dedicated to celebrating the Goddess Durga, the Goddess of India.
